Qld: Hinkler recount result expected later today

The National Party's PAUL NEVILLE says he's quietly confident he will retain the federal
seat of Hinkler in a recount.

Labor candidate CHERYL DORRON conceded defeat to Mr NEVILLE in the seat on the central
Queensland coast about a week ago.

But she later changed her mind and requested a recount.

With about 60 per cent of the primary vote recounted, Mr NEVILLE is ahead of Ms DORRON
by 49 votes.

Both candidates have challenged some of the ballot papers, and electoral Commissioner
BOB LONGLAND is expected to rule on them on Monday.

A final result for the seat is expected to be announced on Tuesday.
