FED:Live export vote disappointing: WSPCA

The World Society for the Protection of Animals says it's disappointed the Labor Party
has rejected a move to phase out live cattle exports.

The animal welfare group was supporting an amendment to the party's platform at its
national conference over the weekend that would see a four-year transition away from live
exports towards a chilled meat export trade.

But the motion was defeated.

WSPCA campaign manager JODIE JANKEVICS says in spite of the disappointment, they're
encouraged by new momentum to support meat processing infrastructure alternatives for
the livestock industry.
