Vic: Two men arrested over assault at ATM

MELBOURNE, Dec 19 AAP - Two men have been arrested over an allegedly unprovoked bashing
in Melbourne's CBD on Saturday morning that left a man in hospital with serious injuries.

Two men were standing at an ATM in Queen Street at about 3am (AEDT) on Saturday when
they were approached by two other men.

The men who approached the ATM users allegedly punched and kicked the victims for no
reason, police were told.

A 27-year-old man from St Albans was taken to hospital with serious injuries while
the second victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Kostantin Podolsky, 22, and Mark Ginovker, 23, appeared at an out-of-sessions court
hearing on Saturday morning charged with affray, intentionally causing serious injury,
attempted robbery and other assault-related charges.

Police said the two men arrested had been identified as illegal immigrants.

The pair have been remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday.
