NSW:NSW does not have a gun problem: police

The New South Wales deputy police commissioner rejects suggestions the state has a
gun problem .. despite three separate shootings within six hours over the weekend.

Deputy Commissioner DAVE OWENS says gun crime has actually decreased by 40 per cent
in the last decade and doesn't believe that it's out of control.

He says what they've had is a recent spate of shootings and he'll make sure officers
have the resources needed to lock the offenders up.

In one of the shootings .. a 20-year-old man was lured to a football match at Greenacre
in Sydney's south-west before being gunned down yesterday afternoon.

While a 16-year-old boy was shot in the leg at Rockdale train station in Sydney's south
last night.
